NESPAK started its operations when the word “Architect” was alien to people in Pakistan and only a few professionals were acting as architects in the field. The concept of engaging consultants in architecture was not in vogue in the country because people were not aware of the importance of architect and architectural services. The situation has now changed altogether towards an improved understanding of the profession. To give a boost to the architecture scene which had offered a little in a nascent country like Pakistan, NESPAK was established in 1973 and two years later, its architecture and planning section was set up with a number of architects who could be counted on fingers. But this small promising team was bound to do wonders and true to their worth, they made a lot of efforts to earn a good name for the Company both in Pakistan and abroad. The coming years had a lot in store for the Architectural & Planning Sector in terms of major projects like Al-Wathba Project in the UAE and Social Housing project in Iraq. The first major domestic project by NESPAK in the Architecture and Planning Sector was the Peshawar Secretariat which was launched in 1976 and accomplished in 1981. The performance of NESPAK's Architecture and Planning Sector is characterized by elegance, magnificence and splendor and that too under the limited budgets allocated by the public sector. The work done by NESPAK in the Architecture and Planning Sector is second to none in the consultancy market. It can be proudly presented to both the domestic and international markets in the public and private sectors. The seed which was sown by a small number of architects in 1975 has grown into a mighty tree with the creation of three full-fledged architectural divisions in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. These divisions are manned by highly qualified, well-experienced and creative personnel including architects, town planners and architectural engineers. The coordination and cooperation among the three have not only produced various landmark projects but also boosted the performance and image of NESPAK as one of the best consultancy groups in South Asia. Since last decade, NESPAK has set up a Design Office in the State of Qatar to explore business and seek more clients. The Company continued its business, extending the expertise of its professionals to new markets and maintaining its leadership role in the traditional market. Be it the building of a commercial tower, a hospital, a university, a Railway station, an embassy, or a sports complex, NESPAK has made its presence felt in every area of architecture, planning, design and construction supervision. NESPAK believes in constant growth and consistent development. With the advent of green architecture the world over, NESPAK has not lagged behind in this particular arena either. It has gradually started applying the principles of green architecture to the buildings it has designed in the recent years. Energy conservation is another area that has been accorded ample consideration at NESPAK while designing and planning new architectural projects.
