NESPAK in Other Parts of the World

Introduction

NESPAK carried out projects in many other parts of the world. A total of 57 projects costing US$ 3.8 billion have been undertaken by NESPAK in almost 30 countries. The main countries where NESPAK provided consultancy services included Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Cameroon, Chad, Dominica, Ethiopia, Federal Islamic Republic of the Comoros, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Türkiye. In these countries, NESPAK rendered services in the fields of Water Resources, Energy, Transportation, Ports & Harbours, Architecture & Planning and Environmental & Public Health Engineering.

A hallmark of the projects acquired in the countries other than NESPAK's foreign regional offices is that most of these jobs were financed by the international donor agencies i.e., the Islamic Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme.

Under the miscellaneous category, the first country where NESPAK provided consultancy servicers was Tanzania. The Company carried out project planning and feasibility study for the Morogoro Industrial Estate Project in Tanzania in 1974. Among this range of projects, the first breakthrough for NESPAK came in the shape of the Marsyangdi Hydroelectric Power Project in Nepal in 1986 for which the Company rendered construction supervision services.

NESPAK got a major hospital project in Sierra Leone namely the 200-Bed Freetown Hospital on April 01, 1992. The Company provided tender documentation, design review and construction supervision services for the project. One of NESPAK's notable overseas assignments was the supervision and design review of Raising of Wala Dam, Jordan undertaken during 2017-2025 for the Jordan Valley Authority, Ministry of Water & Irrigation, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The project reflected NESPAK's capability in dam engineering and specialized construction supervision.

Another significant milestone was NESPAK's assignment for the New Hanger at Baku Airport, Azerbaijan undertaken during 1994-2003, as well as Airport projects in Libya undertaken during 2008-2009 for ADPI - Aeroports de Paris Ingenierie, France. NESPAK provided feasibility study, project planning, detailed design and tender documents and construction supervision for the Airport Facilities. This assignment further demonstrated NESPAK's growing international stature and its ability to deliver comprehensive engineering consultancy services for major infrastructure projects. The most recent countries where NESPAK has acquired landmark projects are Papua New Guinea, Kingdom of Jordan, Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Gabon in Central Africa. The projects are related to water resources and dam development and energy sector.

Although NESPAK presence in some countries is not very enormous, yet the work done there is invaluable. Concerted efforts are being made to acquire business in more countries.
